Station 55

Fire Station 55 in Monfort Heights

Fire Station 55 is the first due station that protects the Monfort Heights, White Oak and Mount Airy neighborhoods of Green Township.  Originally, it was the second station of the Mack Volunteer Fire Department.  After running out of a couple different buildings, volunteers in this area finally got a home at the corner of West Fork Road and Audro Drive in the mid 1960's.  That station underwent numerous renovations and served long after the department began staffing stations around the clock and becoming the Green Township Fire Department.

As the area continued to develop, the old station was no longer able to support the demands of the increasingly busy operation.  Renovating the former station that was not designed for 24 hour staffing was not feasible.  It was decided to start from scratch.  This new station opened in the same location in 2005.  The current station has larger bays, more office space, purpose-built living quarters and more storage.  There are currently 5 persons staffing this station around the clock.  The station can accommodate up to 7 personnel.

Vehicles assigned to station 55 are one pumper, one paramedic ambulance, one pickup truck and a trailer containing hazardous materials response equipment.  More details on these vehicles will be added as time permits.
